Doris Jane (Rumple) Carter

Doris Jane Carter, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Community Hospital South.

Doris was born on May 18, 1941, in Goshen, Indiana, the daughter of Lloyd and Elsie (Loveall) Rumple.  She married Bobby Carter on August 25, 1962, in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He survives.

She is also survived by two daughters- Terri (Nancy Stone) Carter of Conway, South Carolina and Susan Perrine of Indianapolis; three sons- Randy Carter of Indianapolis, Lloyd Carter of Panama City Beach, Florida and Bobby (Valerie) Carter of Kokomo, Indiana; three brothers- Bobby (Pattie) Rumple of Southport, Tony Rumple of Indianapolis and Carl Rumple of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Doris worked as a teacher’s assistant for over 20 years, until her retirement.  She enjoyed John Wayne movies, line dancing, fishing, bowling, playing board games and puzzles.  Her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Doris Jane Carter’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018, at the Norman F. Chance Funeral Home, 504 E. National Avenue, Indianapolis, with Pastor David Mathis officiating.  She will be laid to rest following the services in New Crown Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and also from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday.  The family has entrusted the Norman F.
