Barbara Jewell (White) Cooley

Barbara Jewell Cooley, 80, of Indianapolis, passed away at 3:50 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2019, at Franciscan Health.

Barbara was born on August 2, 1938, Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of James Edgar and Hazel (Green) White.  She married James Cooley, on July 12, 1957, in Indianapolis, Indiana.  He survives.

She is also survived by two daughters- Debra (Richard) Corder of Poland, Indiana and Diane Beck of Indianapolis; one son- James D. Cooley of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one sister- Carolyn Tolle of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one great-granddaughter.

Barbara worked at Woolworths, in Southern Plaza for 18 years.  She was a member of Friendswood Baptist Church and a past Campfire Leader.  She enjoyed playing bunco, sewing, gardening, canning, traveling, camping and playing computer games.

A Celebration of Barbara Cooley’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2019, at the Norman F. Chance Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 National Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest following the service in Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the family.  The family has entrusted the Norman F.
