Obituary
Bessie Ileen (Reynolds) Smith of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully from this life on October 15, 2022. She was born in Bandy, Kentucky on August 12, 1927, to the late Sam and Sarah Francis Reynolds (Brown).
Bessie married the love of her life on April 10, 1948, Cecil J. Smith. They were blessed with 69 years together before his passing in 2017.
This union was blessed what a little 4-year-old boy came into their lives. “Jimmy” their only “son”. He brought so much love, joy, and happiness, they in return brought much love, joy, and happiness to him.
Bessie was preceded in death by eight siblings: Lula, Alma, Myrtle, Odus, Cinda, Oscar, Jay and Meeda. Bessie leaves behind her son James D. Price, granddaughters; Margaret (Meg) Taylor and Katie Cottle (George), great-granddaughters; Jackie, Hannah and Harlow, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Bessie was a member of The Southport Church of Christ. She was a wonderful cook and she loved anything chocolate. She loved making quilts, working jig-saw puzzles, fishing and gardening.
Funeral Services for Bessie will be 1:00p.m., Thursday, October 20,2022, at Norman F. Chance Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 National Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana, with calling from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Garden, Greenwood, Indiana.
