Donald R. Chitwood

Donald R. Chitwood, 77, of Indianapolis, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, December 21, 2019.

Donald was born on March 4, 1942, in Indianapolis, the son of Donald and Imogene (Henderson) Chitwood.  He married Elizabeth Jane Hicks on June 13, 1960, in Indianapolis.  She preceded him in death on December 25, 2014.

He is survived by two daughters- Donna (Kent Jones) Bolinger of Indianapolis and Deana (Brian) Riddle of Indianapolis; three grandchildren- Danielle Holland, Shelby Riddle and Bailey Riddle all of Indianapolis; four sisters- Tommie (Bob) Finley of Indianapolis, Pat (Joe) Halfaker of Indianapolis, Shellie (Chuck) Candler of Indianapolis and Tina Halfaker of Beech Grove; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister- Connie House and two brothers-in-law- Ray Halfaker and Junior House.

Donald owned and operated DC Sewer Service, for over 45 years, until his retirement.  He enjoyed racing go-karts and motorcycles.  He was a member of the Central Indiana Kart Association and American Motorcycle Association.  He also enjoyed metal detecting, tinkering with his go-kart and motorcycle, going to the casino, playing cards and spending time with his family.  Donald always worked hard to take care of his family and would do anything for anybody. 

A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2019, at Norman F. Chance Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the service in West Newton Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  The family has entrusted the Norman F.
