Donald "Don" Gene Hauser

Donald G. Hauser, aged 89, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at the Gibson Hospice Center Terre Haute, Indiana.  Don was born on May 30,1935, in Indianapolis Indiana, to Estil and Vivian Hauser.  Don was a lifelong proud resident of the Indianapolis area and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1963.  Don was preceded in death by spouses Mary C. (Patten) Hauser, Sherell D. (Porter) Hauser, and Wilma (Terminstien) Hauser. Don was also preceded in death by his sister Mary Lou (Hauser) McAdams.

Survived by his sons Michael E. Hauser, Terry A. (Bobbi) Hauser, Jeff (Mary) Hauser and daughters Diana J. (David) Kelley, and Shana K. (Tim) Charles.  Don had 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was a Retired Indianapolis Firefighter of 21 years, retired in 1983. He worked at St Francis Hospital security for 16 years retiring in 1999.  Don was a former member of the Indiana Army National Guard.  He was a member of Englewood Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Shrine, Beech Grove American Legion, Beech Grove Eagles, Beech Grove Moose Lodge, Retired Fireman’s Club, and Elks Lodge of Madeira Beach, Florida. 

Don enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  He will be remembered for his love, kindness, generosity and pleasant demeanor.  He loved fishing and spending his winters in Florida.  Don maintained close relationships with fellow retired firefighters.  He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Visitation and services will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Norman F.  Chance Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 National Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:30 P.M., services will immediately follow at 3:30.  Joseph Marcello will be officiating.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Don’s honor to The Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care - Hospice of the Wabash Valley (www.myhospicevna.org). Online condolences and words of comfort maybe offered to the family at www.chancefuneralhome.com
