On the morning of December 28, 2021, Donna (Franklin) Hanley entered into eternal rest at the age of 92.
Donna was born and raised in Indianapolis. She was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School. She took great pride as a deputy sheriff with the Marion County Sheriff's Department in Indianapolis where she retired after more than 23 years of service.
Donna raised two children, Debbie and Michael. She had 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She also had 5 nieces and nephews that were special to her. Donna was a lifelong animal lover and will be missed greatly by her dog Chimpy.
Donna's passion was contesting and entering sweepstakes. She belonged to a sweeps club and shared her devotion to the hobby with many others. She was always thrilled to learn she had won a sweepstakes and had winnings which included cash, numerous trips, an ATV, and meeting celebrities like David Letterman and Jimmy Connors. She would often enter for family and friends and was excited when they won as well.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Maud Franklin, and a sister, Marie Hight.
A memorial service is being planned for this spring and the exact date and location will be announced when it is finalized.
Final Arrangements have been respectfully entrusted to and handled by Norman F. Chance Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
