Mrs. Dottie Jean Gill, Indianapolis, passed away on the afternoon of Monday, July 13, 2020 at Community Hospital-North. She was 52. Dottie was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, June 10, 1968, a daughter of the late James Albert and Ima Dell (Foster) Brewster.
Dottie attended Indianapolis Public Schools and has had formerly been employed as a waitress, working for several years at the Country Corner Restaurant. She enjoyed spending her leisure time vacationing and spending time with loved ones at family gatherings, especially her grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She also enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles, embroidery, cross-stitching, fishing and watching her son’s racing events. Dottie was a music lover and especially liked REO Speedwagon, Alabama, Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers.
Dottie is survived by her children, Jason (Melissa) Brewster, Steve (Johni) Butterfield, Crystal (Ayinde) Brewster and Kristie (Jawon Waddell) Gill; her stepchildren, Sariah (Willie) Garza, Ben Gill Jr., Brian Gill and Amanda Gill; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her siblings, Patti Malone, Regina Brewster, Ima Johns, Jonathon Johns and Ronnie Foster; her pet dog, Lil’ Man as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dottie is preceded in passing by her husband of 18 years, Ben Gill, Sr., whom she married August 8, 1997; her granddaughter, Savannah and siblings, Doug Brewster, Cecil New, Duanna Jones, Gail Doerr and Jody Brewster.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Norman F. Chance Funeral Home, 504 National Avenue, Indianapolis. Burial will follow at New Crown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 pm, Friday, July 17, 2020 at the funeral home.
