John Thomas Hinesley, 97  Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on the evening of November 5, 2021

at Franciscan Health.  He was born on February 15, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late George Washington and Margaret Henrietta (Harstedt) Hinesley.

John retired from Allison’s and Chrysler where he was a supervisor, and then went on to become a realtor.  He eventually went to work for International Harvester as a tool and die maker before retiring permanently.   He enjoyed gardening, chopping wood in the fall and fishing.  He liked his sports especially the Colts and Pacers  , and IU Basketball.  John and wife Ramona liked to take bus trips and going to  104th Timberwolves  reunions with his Army friends.  John was a United States Army Veteran in World War II, serving in the 104th Timberwolf Infantry Division in Northern Europe.


Survivors: children:  Kathy J. Arauco, John T. (Jo Ann) Hinesley, Jr., Margaret E. Hinesley Jane E. (Gary) Talsma, 

7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in passing by his parents, first wife Bernice Fay (Hall) Hinesley (2002) and Ramona (Everly) Hinesley,

A celebration of Life will be held at later date and his cremated remains will be laid to rest with military honors at West Newton Cemetery.
