John Richard Whiteside, 79, Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on April 30, 2024. He was born April 23, 1945, in Indianapolis to James and Erma Whiteside. John was married on August 25, 1967, to Mary Roberta Turner in Indianapolis. John was a member of the Freemasons and a member of Shriners International. John is a 1963 graduate of Southport High School where upon graduation he joined the United States Air Force. John was employed as a Fire Marshall for Eli Lilly for 32 years until he retired.
John is survived by son John D. Whiteside (Shelley); daughter Joanna Holland (John); brother James Whiteside; Sisters Debra Langlois (Steve); Darlene Smith; Deanna Dobbins (Rick); Donna Reinstra; Grandchildren John Holland II (Savanah); Ashley Kirk (Brian); Cody Whiteside (Jessica); Nicholas Holland (Sydney) and great grandchildren Hayley, Quintin, Christian, Xaiver, Charlotte, and Harlow. He was preceded in passing by his wife of 53 years Mary Roberta (Turner) Whiteside; parents; sister Doris Perry and granddaughter Brittany Holland.
Services for John will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at Norman F. Chance Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 National Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Calling will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, and on Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Garden, Greenwood, Indiana
