Mary Shirlene (Henry) Johnson

Mary Shirlene Henry
born on November 6, 1947 in Lincoln County Kentucky to
John Robert and Joyce Kathleen (Wall) Henry.
She married the love of her life Earl “Don” Johnson on
November 15,1968, they were 2 months shy of their 54th
wedding anniversary.
Early on in their marriage she enjoyed playing the piano
and working with members of Grace Baptist Church.
She also worked as a bank assistant for Merchant’s Bank.
Together God blessed them with 2 children
Joy Lynn Armstrong (Brad) of Indianapolis IN
And
Timothy Earl Johnson (Lyn) of Sharpsburg, Georgia
She also has 6 grandchildren:
Robbie, John, Cameron, Marybeth, Ethan, and Logan
After Joy & Tim were born, she was a homemaker. When
Tim was old enough for school, she volunteered for the
school helping in the classrooms and lunchroom.
She was hired by Indianapolis Baptist Schools in 1980 and
worked for 18 years and retired just before the birth of
her oldest grandchild.
She spent time dedicated to her family and church. She
enjoyed volunteering in the grandkid's library and
traveling between Indiana and Georgia to be with her
grandchildren.
The past years they have been members of Indianapolis
Baptist Temple.
Mary is well known for all the delicious meals and desserts.
Often most of her cell phone calls were recipe related.
She was so talented with cooking, sewing, embroidery,
needlework, and cake decorating.
She always made her home open to missionaries and
evangelists. She truly had a servant’s heart.
Mary was preceded in death by her grandparents William
and Lillie Mae (Carmen) Henry and Walter and Inez
(Wade) Wall. Her parents John and Joyce (Wall) Henry.
A Celebration of Mary Johnson’s life will be held
Monday, September 12, 2022, at Indianapolis Baptist
Temple at 4002 E. Southport Road, Indianapolis, with
Pastor Matt Roller officiating. Funeral Service will be at  7:00 p.m

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until service at  
p.m. to 7:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest on Tuesday
September 13, 2022, at Round Hill Cemetery. The family
has entrusted the Norman F. Chance Funeral Home to
assist them in honoring Mrs. Johnson’s life. Memories or
