Paula Jean (Hamm) Kenison

Paula Kenison (Hamm) passed away on May 7, 2023. Paula was born in 1949 to Paul and Dorothy Hamm. She met her eventual husband David Kenison while they both were acting in the senior play at Center Grove High school. Paula graduated near the top of her class in 1967. She went on to attend to Purdue University for a single semester but decided to transfer to Indiana State where David was going to school. She did this for several reasons but mostly to keep David in line. She graduated with her Bachelor of Education in 1971. She then earned her master's degree in education from Indiana University. David and Paula were married in 1969 at Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church where David was an altar boy as a youth. With a profound element of surprise, they welcomed their first child Matthew in 1970. Paula gave birth to their second child, Paul, in 1982. Paula was an elementary Teacher at IPS school #20 for almost 40 years. During her time as a teacher Paula made a positive impact on thousands of kids. Paula was an avid foodie that loved to cook. She never met a cookbook that she did not want to buy for herself or as a gift for someone she cared about. At the end of the day, we all end up stories told by our friends and family, throughout her life Paula certainly gifted everyone with lots of stories to tell.

Service for Paula will be 4:30p.m., Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Norman F. Chance Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 National Avenue, Indianapolis with calling from 3:00p.m. until time of service. Online condolences and words of comfort maybe offered to the family at www.chancefuneralhome.com
