Steven D. Smith

February 25, 1962 – March 27, 2023

Steven D Smith, 61, passed away at home, on March 27th, 2023. He was born on February 25, 1962, at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove Indiana, to Joyce Ann Smith. He graduated from Manual High School in 1980. He joined the Air Force in 1984 and served proudly for 10 years, followed by 10 years of service as a Paralegal for the Marion County prosecutor’s office. Afterwards, he worked in the hospitality industry for several years, pursuing his passion for helping people. He has been a member of the Creek church for many years, where he participated in Stephen Ministries. In his spare time, he would love to listen to music, read his bible, meditate, jog, and in younger years, play basketball. He had a love for sports, nostalgia, horror movies, and was an established collector. He enjoyed watching his grandkids grow and hearing about their day-to-day life.

Steven is proceeded in life by his mom, Joyce Smith (Craig), and his younger brother David Sharpson. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 40 years Jeanne Smith (Dotson), his son, Joshua P. Smith, his daughter, Stephanie Kaster (Smith), and son-in-law Mark A. Kaster, his grandkids, Zachary C. Kaster, Victoria R. Kaster, Trenton J. Kaster, and siblings, James Sharpson (Amber), Valentina Wethington (Todd), Mary-Ann Wolfe (Eddie), as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Pastor Emerson Kennedy will be presiding over Steven’s Celebration of Life which will be held at The Creek Church, 6430 S Franklin Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46259 on April 19,2023 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, with a service from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, concluding with United States Air Force Honor Guard.
